Spring Scream
Every year, Taiwan has a big music festival called Spring Scream. Last year I went and it was awesome. This year, I actually had the chance to play at it. It was one of the coolest experiences I've ever had. My friend Neil (pictured above with the guitar to the left) is an amazing singer/songwriter. He has recorded an album and has toured Canada. A couple of weeks ago, he asked my roommate Phil and I to back him up for his gig at Spring Scream. His stage name is Newt and Phil and I are now his back up band called The Slacks (think slackers, not pants and it's a pretty good name).
It was my first time playing a big show with lights, a soundman, an audience of more than twenty or thirty people, etc. Though I was nervous beforehand, the show went extremely well. The foreigners and the Taiwanese all seemed to dig our sound and it could be the start of bigger and better things. Thanks to everyone who came out and supported us. It was a great night of music.
