Jaipur
We left Delhi early in the morning. We had booked a ride in a van down to Jaipur which included a tour of the city. We were told that they would drive us there and then take us around to the sites. Afterwards, they would drop us off at the train station. Exactly what we wanted.
We waited on the side of the road for about forty minutes and finally the van came. The driver didn't say a word (strange because everyone in India speaks English) to us. He drove around the city and picked up some locals then we finally started the journey south. Yet, still no one would talk to us. It was weird. When we eventually got outside Jaipur the guy pulled over to the side of the road and began unloading our luggage. I asked him what he was doing and he just ignored me. Then I asked him what about the tour we were supposed to get. He just laughed in my face, got in the car and took off with the others (locals) still in the van. Conveniently, there was a rickshaw driver right there. He told us it happened all the time and that he could take us on a tour of the city. This was the first (actually not even the first) of many scams. Of course we had no choice but to go with the rickshaw driver even though he was obviously part of the scam too. The one friendly local. The good guy. The hero that saves you from the bad scam artist. I was extremely angry and the worst parts were: a) it was booked through our hotel; b) the first place we went into (Amber Fort - pictured below), we saw the locals that were in the van with us.
